The Latchman Foundation was incorporated as a not-for-profit Florida Corporation in December 2003 shortly following the death of Granville Latchman. Granville Latchman died on September 10, 2003 just before his 70th birthday. His wife Blanche died on November 12, 1981 at age 53.

Their nine children Sylvester, Shirley, Tarrant, Paulette, Haniph, Andrea, Annette, Jeffeth and Shelly honor the memory of their parents by way of this foundation and its activities.
